Soccer, also known as football or futbol depending on your country of origin, is a sport played between two teams of 11 players. The objective of the game is to move a ball down the field by passing, trapping or shooting it down the pitch, or field, to bypass the goalkeeper into the opposing side’s goal.

The objective of the game is to score more goals, or points, than the opposite team during a 90-minute game.

Played by almost 250 million athletes in over 200 countries, soccer is the world’s most popular sport. That popularity extends to our Northeast Ohio community, in which organized teams started taking to the pitch in the 1880s.

Over a century later, Cleveland has its own semi-professional men’s soccer team, the Cleveland Soccer Club and has hosted 2017 and 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup matches at Cleveland Browns Stadium.

We’re excited to welcome our masters athletes, strikers, keepers and midfielders to Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A. for some exciting competition on the pitch.
