One of the best ways to take in the sights and sounds of Cleveland, is on two-wheels. We think the ride is even better when there’s an added layer of excitement with a healthy dose of friendly competition.
The sport of cycling has one of our favorite disciplines, a criterium, or “crit,” for short. This sport features a bike race consisting of several laps around a closed course with each lap ranging from 400 meters to 10,000 meters. The mass start event requires cyclists to compete for a predetermined amount of time or a set number of laps.
The layer of excitement is in the mix of good technical skills on a bike and exceptional “sprint” ability to repeatedly accelerate hard from corners against other cyclists.
Even though we believe everyone is a winner at the 2024 Pan-American Masters Games, bragging rights and a medal go to the first rider who crosses the crit’s finish line without having been “lapped.”
